Redknapp - Diarra can save the French!
If you have a problem, if no one else can help, and if you can find him, maybe you can hire... Lassana Diarra - or something along those lines anyway!
France stand on 'the brink of elimination' from Euro 2008, and with them tonight having to face a Dutch side that are looking absolutely fantastic they will have to produce something special. The man to 'save them' according to Harry Redknapp is Pompey's own Diarra.
He spent the entire 90 minutes of the dour 0-0 draw with Romania on the bench but Redknapp feels that Raymond Domenech can earn a stay of execution if he recalls the midfielder to inject some life into a stale side: 'I thought the French were disappointing against Romania.
'They have top players but they didn't seem to have any energy.
'There was no one who went out and made it happen. There was no-one to go out and grab the game by the scruff of the neck.
'I'd like to see Lassana given a go. We know what he can do and I think he could drive France forward.
'I think he is exactly the type of player they are crying out for. I wouldn't write the French off after one defeat.
'But I think Lassana Diarra should be playing for them.'
Having watched that French game I think Diarra would certainly add something to their midfield that they were lacking, so I too would recall him - but on the other hand, and in all honesty as I do not care if the French get knocked out, if he does not play he cannot impress 'potential suitors' can he...
Redknapp is tipping one from Holland, Spain, Portugal or Germany to win - whilst Germany 'should' still qualify it is not impossible to think they 'might' go home early... Holland and Spain looked really impressive in their opening games, so they are a good shout but I am sticking to my tip of Croatia!

On a very selfish note, if he can't shine for France then maybe we won't have him pinched by the really big european clubs and we keep him a bit longer.

True Matt, but he may then feel that he didn't get picked because he was not in a big team! 6 0f 1 and half a dozen of the other as they say.

There is middle ground here lads. He plays but does not play well!! But I can't see that happening.

Hahaha! Got to get fully behind the lad, he's done us proud so far and there's not a chance he'll be off this summer. Unless someone offers 'truck' loads of money, obviously....

Napoleon couldn't of saved the Frogs tonight, the Dutch are playing fantasy football, got to admit I'm enjoying this tournament more so than if England we're in it!

Told you all, i'm Dutch for the duration, i might not be able to pick a result in the predictions league or pick a fantasy team, but it looks like i'm not too wrong about these boys!

The dutch are sublime at the mo... I don't think Diarra could have made much difference anyway... What about Gouov Do we still fancy him for a signing ?

diarra might have made a difference, but he wouldnt have stopped the french getting a spanking!

French will have a new manager after the euro's so maybe Diarra will get a chance then. sorry but I think the Dutch will loose in the knock out stage peaked to early like Argentina in the world cup

Diarra should have come on in both games. Chris Waddle was screaming for him to come on on Five Live against Holland, he said the Dutch could not handle his power. Domenech was not listening as usual.

Now Man City bid 8m for Diarra & Liverpool also said to be favorites to sign him. Sure we will turn down city, but hope the Liverpool thing is wrong, after all they have been linked with every player going at the moment,& there supporters want a wide player, unless they think Villa want to much for Barry, & feel they can get Diarra for less.

Diarra is a NOW player, Man city won't stand a chance as he will be playing in the Uefa next season with us, Liverpool rumour I don't buy for a minute
