Season ticket sales up for Pompey

Season ticket sales up for Pompey

Season ticket sales at Pompey are down 21% on last season?

Yea right, someone is 'aving a laugh as why would these be down when we are entering into yet another new era for the next season - these sales are actually up as the Pompey site has confirmed, with it also confirming an apology has been issued over incorrect reports on the increase of season ticket prices for 2008/09...

SEASON TICKET SALES RISE

Pompey's season ticket sales are already up on last season.

Season tickets go on full general sale on Monday, June 9 with nearly 14,000 seats snapped up for 2008/9.

That is contrary to incorrect newspaper reports claiming Pompey's season ticket sales had fallen by 21 percent on last season.

This follows a separate, but also inaccurate, report over the rise in Pompey's season ticket prices, about which the club has received an apology from the BBC.

Blues chief executive Peter Storrie said: "We're puzzled beyond belief where people get these completely inaccurate stories from. Season tickets are already up on last season.

"It comes after another incorrect story claiming our season ticket prices had gone up by 17.5 percent, when in fact they have risen by up to five percent - the first increase in three years.

"We have had a letter of apology from the BBC about this, admitting they got their facts wrong."

Pompey sold 13,866 season tickets for the 2007/8 season, but 13,926 have already been bought for the 2008/9 campaign.

Around 1,000 supporters have not renewed their season tickets from last season. But more than that number of fans, who took advantage of early-bird prices, have become new season-ticket holders.

Around 2,000 season tickets are still available for next season and go on sale from 9am on Monday.

Although they can be purchased over the phone, supporters are strongly recommended to buy their season tickets in person from the club's ticket office in Anson Road.

On Monday and Tuesday supporters who come to the ticket office in person will have the option of being shown their chosen seat in the ground.

There are no season tickets available in the Milton end, while the only seats on sale in the Family Enclosure and C section of the south stand are restricted view.

But seats are available in all other parts of the ground.

The club is pleased to inform supporters that the successful five-month, interest-free scheme to spread the cost of a season ticket will remain available.

Supporters pay a reservation fee of £20 and then the rest of the cost of the season ticket in five equal payments.

When coming to buy their season tickets, fans should complete a finance application form, available from the ticket office.

More than 1,800 fans have already taken advantage of finance schemes, run by PFC Financial Services, to help pay for their 2008/9 season tickets.

Perry Scott, General Manager of PFC Financial Services, said: "The feedback received has been particularly welcome as fans have told us these schemes have been a real help in these times of increased living costs."

Season ticket prices:
South A/D; North E/G: Adult £705; Senior/Young Person £500; Junior £380.
South B/C; North F: Adult £770; Senior/Young Person £550; Junior £415.
Family Enclosure: Adult £600; Senior/Young Person £320; Junior £190.
North Lower: Adult £705, Senior/Young Person £500; Junior £380.
West Stand: Adult £705, Senior/Young Person £500; Junior £380.

I am still trying to calculate if I can afford one or not. Not long left to decide now though! The proper maths will be broken out this weekend.

The BBC conveniently forgot about the people who opted to use the 'early bird' payment option as well. Clowns....

prices are still expensive, we cannot overlook this fact but this is the way of football these days - the misleading report from the bbc was something that we spoke about last week with us pointing out early that they were not taking into account the 'early bird' prices, i would like to see an official apology from the bbc on their website tho...

Let's hope our home form is back up to it's usual pukka standard next season though! I can remember quite a few home games that weren't great last season....if we can sort that out and maintain anywhere near our away form from last season we'll make even more progress!

I ordered the bricks and the cement is being delivered next week Merlin... but got a bit of a problem transporting the steele. Do happen to know anybody with a van do ya ? Also need a few cups for the builders to drink out of but no point asking a Chelsea fan about cups is there ;)

Tollitt still has a Pompey chance

Well, according to Cook. He's insisting Tollitt, the former Everton academy player who had returned to Merseyside to join Tranmere on loan, can still return to Pompey.

Pompey win and lose collectively

As such Cook doesn't want the fans to start turning on individual players, which has been the case with Bennett with Smith not exactly viewed as a 'fans' favourite' either.
