Rafa 'Dick Turpin' Benitez wont do us/Gera talk

Harry Redknapp has warned Rafa Benitez that if he continues to wear a mask and play the part of 'Dick Turpin' then we will not be moving for Peter Crouch, as we will not be robbed into paying more than we want...

Benitez has been looking for £15m for the England man, although recent reports have said he has lowered his mask and this asking price slightly to £10m - an amount that makes Redknapp more interested as he told The News: 'if the price is right something could happen.

'If they wanted £10m it would certainly be more interesting.

'We do need another front man. At the moment we have David Nugent, Kanu and Jermain Defoe.

'We need another one up there, at least. You need to have at least four strikers. So I need another good one up there.'

Villa are again being 'linked' with Crouch with a deal involving him and cash for Gareth Barry being suggested.

You guessed it guys... I still think that we will re-sign him this summer, but then again I could be wrong - I often am!

Redknapp also confirmed that most of his targets are based in England, but is not ruling out bringing players in from abroad.

==========

When I first caught sight of 'links' to Zoltan Gera again I thought 'here we go again'.

Do not get me wrong I like the fella but not enough to pay decent money for him - but when I found out he was a free agent I became more interested...

Harry Redknapp has been keen on the Hungarian for some while now and with him out of contract shortly - and still to sign a new deal with West Brom - 'reports' suggest that we could look to get him in on a free but Everton, Bolton, Wigan and Boro are also 'monitoring the situation' with Benfica said to have 'offered him a contract'.

As a free I think he would be a decent addition to the squad, had we been paying for him I would not have been that keen to be honest.

What do we think about links with Gera? I am looking for views from Pompey and West Brom fans here guys...

I hope they are just rumours about Gera. We already have one winger that only plays when he can be bothered, why would we want another one? He has been huffing and puffing at the Baggies about wanting to leave for a few seasons now rather than just getting on and playing. I would rather we spent money on a proper player than give Gera over the top wages!

I can't see Gera being any better than what we have. He might improve the Bolton, Fulham or Boro's but we, thankfully have moved on from them. Crouch YES.

If Redknapp can't afford him, tough.

Rushback if you think Crouch is worth 15mill & you only want to pay 10mill for Barry. then why do Villa want 8mill + Crouch for Barry some ones maths is to cock. makes 8-10mill a good deal for you I would think.

If Harry can get a bit more consistancy from Gera then I think he definately has the skills to be a regular starter. A Baggie's fan I know says his attitude stinks but different players suit different management styles. Worth a punt I reckon.

For Crouch to be worth £15m, he'd have to be smuggling Riise and Pennant out of Anfield in his trouser legs. And given the length of the aforementioned trousers, I guess that's always possible, but otherwise, not a chance that he's worth £15m. "If Redknapp can't afford him" can easily be flipped to "if Rafa can't sell him", by the way. With just a year left on his contract, he's only going to be getting cheaper.

Arry's right to take a stand....for £15 million you'd expect the likes of Thierry Henry at his peak! Or Darren Bent! (cough).... Plenty more quality players out there and available for ten mill or thereabouts you would think.....my money would be on Arry going after a tall, powerful, skillful, African international striker.
