Mail claims that Davis is off to Boro?

Mail claims that Davis is off to Boro?

The Daily Mail are running a story that is saying Sean Davis is on his way out of Pompey and is to link up with his former Pompey teammate Gary O'Neil at Boro.

With 'reports' that we are after the Brazilian playing in Greece, if we really are and have indeed matched their asking price it would be no surprise at all to see Davis move on as his chances would become even slimmer than they currently are - and he is very much out of favour.

This time last year I would have been fine with him being sold, but the early months of last season saw him in fantastic form with him an early candidate for player of the year but arrivals of others saw him pushed well out of the 1st team picture and reports of drunken antics in Spain earlier in the year did not help his cause either.

I would be sad to see him leave, but if his leaving meant that we could keep others, others that will be more influential to the 1st team picture when all is said and done then this would be a sacrifice that I could deal with to be honest. I think he is entering into the last year of his contract too so £2m - albeit maybe a little 'cheap' - would be better than nothing 12 months down the line...

The same paper is also saying that Djimi Traore is about to sign for Rennes for £250,000 - he has been on loan with the French club since January.

To get straight to the point here, he will not be missed at all will he...

Cue Peter Storrie saying that this is tabloid speculation and that the club have not received any offers for its players. Can we have Gary O back in return?

Why is it, if these reports are true, do we continue to sell the players with heart who always give 100%? We will be left with just occasionally performing prima donnas.

yep, the news is already running a short 'this has been denied' article...
it goes back to the argument from back along 007 doesnt it - would we rather have the grafters who offer 100% commitment pretty much all of the time or would we rather have the quality where we might not always get this commitment but they are better players? occassionally you can get both tho in all fairness.

Bondie that is a bit steep! Davis has had good spells and bad but I do get your point. HR has to put a squad together to move forward and the press believe that Sean will be off-loaded.

Hopefully we will get him off you just to bolster the midfield. Wont score many goals though but i would take him.

It was on the cards Davis would leave after being left out of the FA Cup squad. You can't blame him really.

is it just me, or do we sell all of our players way too cheaply?

2 years ago davis and gary o had the whole not cutting their hair til they scored thing, so obviously they are good mates, so it would make sense for davis to go to boro.

Trouble is with all the press at the moment we are supposedly linked with buying anyone and everyone. They need to fill their columns with something, which is then denied by Pompey. I do love reading it all but at the same time get completely p***ed off with all the speculation. We will only know the true intentions of how 'arry' is shaping the squad when the team steps out on the field on the 16th August. I have no doubt at all in my mind that Crouchie will be up front and that the denila from Pompey about any communication is a smoke screen, which is fair enough. As Storie has said previously 'as and when we have signed somone they will let the fans know'. Be nice to get the first big name confirmed though and get the momentum underway.
