Congratulations to the mighty Fear!

You may, or may not remember the 'The New Football Pools Fanzine Awards 2008' powered by the Football Fans Census?

Well, if so you will know what I mean, if not it was a collection of awards that were dished out to fanzines and online websites for various categories in recognition of excellence - Vital Pompey was nominated for several awards including 'best site' with it also represented by myself for 'best editor' as well as eastneydave, pompeycarpet, Chix and again myself for 'best writer'.

These nominations were narrowed down to a shortlist that went to a 'final judges' decision panel, unfortunately this year we failed to make this final panel, well that was with the exception of Chix, who did advance to this final select band of just 10 entrants for 'best writer' - again, unfortunately he could not win this as Mickey Blue Eyes, writer for Blue Kipper - Everton walked away with this for 2008.

It was not to be our year this time, but maybe this time next year if we continue to grow as we are who knows...

JP Fear aka 'The Fear' and many other names, most of which are not repeatable as this is 'a family' site - who, if you do not know is one of the brains behind the whole of this Vital network, so without him and Andy none of this would even be possible, so we all owe them thanks! - waltzed away with one of these awards. He collected the 'best editor' prize, so this is a feather in the cap for Vital Football as a whole but of course mostly to Vital Villa and him personally, so congratulations.

And who says Villa never win anything anymore, maybe one day they will be able to emulate Pompey on the pitch and start winning things again on it as well as off it :-)

P.S Will this endorsement get me an invite to Villa Park again next season so I can sit among 'the natives', enjoying your company and watching Martin O'Neil living the full 90 minutes literally in front of me - blocking my view in the process - as you witness your boys taught a lesson by the Blues again? I may even extend an invite to you to come down to Fratton to see you beaten their too if you want...
