Spurs in for Muntari - another swap deal suggested

First of all we had Pedro Mendes going to Spain with Jonas Gutierrez coming the other way, now we have Sulley Muntari to Spurs with Younes Kaboul coming to Fratton in exchange...

This is something that was quietly whispered around January time but The People has 'rekindled' this rumour by claiming that Spurs will offer Kaboul plus 7m cash to land Muntari.

Apparently he had 'an outstanding debut season in England', which to be honest I did not see. Do not get me wrong he showed some moments of pure class but I would not say his season was 'outstanding'. This is not to say that I do not rate the guy, as I do and fully believe that next season we would see the very best of him on a more consistent basis - consistency seemed to be his main problem.

If there is any truth to this 'rumour' - which lets face it there is a fair chance there might not be as it could just be the January rumours recycled with an 'added extra' - it would depend on how much Harry Redknapp really wanted Kaboul - who appears to have his heart set on a move to Pompey - and how much he wants to keep Muntari.

Personally Muntari remains one of those that I would like to keep as we need to build on what we have, but he is also one that I feel could be parted with if it suited us...

The same paper also 'claims' that Peter Crouch's move to Pompey is immanent - with a fee rising to 12m being agreed with Liverpool and a 4m per year contract agreed with the England man.

no no no no no!!!!! we do not want to loose players like munter!!! I know we need strengthening at the back, but theirs no point weakening our mid in the proccess!!!...i hope its all bull!
CharlieChimes
chances are it is bull 95% of 'rumours' are arnet they, with it most likely 2 and 2 have been put together by the people here tbh...
i agree tho, we need to build as much as possible really, not doing any rebuilding, but still have these thoughts that muntari 'could' be one of those 'sacrificed' if need be - again, not that i am saying i want this.
pompeyrug
sigh,, keep linking spurs with every other name possible. Spurs are clearly the most popular club in the world, as every player is being linked to them. its fashion!
SonicBorg
also, you think he is worth a international defender + 7million... i dont!
SonicBorg
Harry was eyeing off Huddlestone a few week ago when they declared he was one of the players they would let go. So maybe he is a swap possibility. Huddlestones call up to the England squad could change Spurs mind about letting him go or up the price to a silly level. A swap of Muntari for Yaboul and Huddlestone would be OK.
frattonaussie
I remember seeing Huddlestone play Pompey on New Years Day 07, he looked real class. Statuesque and skillful - especially since Ramos has put him on a diet.
ChrisW
Happy for Muntari to go, but Mendes must stay. Crouch, no thank you.
007
Muntari must stay it would be crazy to let him go 1st year showed a lot of promise next season even better look how much Nico improved, Muntari will do the same.
pompeyyong
If we are to continue with this seasons progress then we are looking to add to the quality players that we already have not to sell the likes of Kranjcar, Muntari & Diarra. I'm also of the view that Muntari's season was far from outstanding but i fully expect him to improve a lot next season. I'd love to see Mendes stay but i think he'll go, he's far to good a player to want the same sort of role next season as he had this. Peter Crouch i would welcome with open arms as long as it doesn't involve a quality player moving in the other direction. Letting quality players go to teams such as Villa, Man City, Spurs etc must be avoided at all costs, why strengthen the teams we need to be above next season.

I would be surprised if Spurs wanted Muntari particularly at Kaboul + 7M. Kaboul had a por first season but was thrown in at the deep end due to Kings injuries. He will become a class PL defender and HR has obviously seen this. Incidently congrats to you guys on the FA cup win, great for HR one of the nice guys. PS I think at the figures quoted you are likely to pay too much for Crouch. COYS
Frank
By the way if you are wanting rid of Mendes I would have him back at Spurs tomorrow. Jol should never have sold him in the first place.
Frank
I'd let Munt go for that, he is far to inconsistent
paultsmouth
Tend to agree with Paul there but Muntari is young and has great potential. He appears to have got the disciplinary side of his game sorted out but needs that consistency needed to play at the top level. Some great goals - not enough but some poor passes that have been costly such as the awful first touch at Everton.
eastneydave
I can't believe that the people reckon he is worth 7mill and Kaboul. I do think he is class, but for that much I would let him go. That way we could keep mendes and davis and buy Guiterez and Crouch. Lovelly.
sneakay
only swap muntari 4 huddlestone.would like to see kaboul at fratton park but not 4 muntari.
stfc ballboy
SonicBorg, its not just spurs being linked with 'every player mate', more often than not you will see our name being 'linked' aswell... spurs have money and are rebuilding so are an obvious choice to link players too, we are cup winners and 'falvour of the month' so we are another... as said most 'links' are 95% bull***** arent they...
pompeyrug
if we got offered huddlestone in a straight up swap deal for muntari, as much as i like muntari and feel he will improve a great deal next season i would bite the hand off and take huddlestone - fantastic footballer, every inch as good as muntari if you ask me.
pompeyrug
No ta Pompey - paper talk me feels. Kaboul is a prospect and I hope Ramos beds him in. Well done Wembley lads - great day out isn't it.
YiddoNick
i would not let muntari go for huddlestone - muntari i think is better now, and has more potential. for 7 million AN kaboul, i would be tempted...
pompeycarpet
kaboul maybe......huddlestone NO CHANCE!!!.....getting better and better all the time. still only 21, and with passing ability 2nd to none. 1st senior england call up recently. HE AINT GOING ANYWHERE!
lillywhites101
depends on what 'one day' ramos wants to do with huddlestone doesnt it - i think he would be a fool to get rid of him tho...
pompeyrug
Pompey please keep Muntari and we will keep our cash and Huddlestone, if you really want Kaboul make an offer but no swaps.
KatieDawson
Ramos was prepared to let Huddlestone go about 5 weeks ago. It remains to be seen if he has had a change of heart.
frattonaussie
"ramos was prepaired to let huddlestone go 5 weeks ago"....what? unless you can tell me u and ramos had a little chat, that has to be pure *****e!.....but then again you prob read it in the star, in which case it must be true!!!
lillywhites101
Do you get the star over there frattonaussie or did ramos pop over for a holiday?
pompeyyong
i wish i was as witty as pompeyyong!
lillywhites101
No we don't get the star (is that another of the Communist papers you still have over there now? ) but if you learned to read news reports and not just look at the girly pictures and kiddies pages, you would have read that Ramos said he was prepared to let all the Spurs team go and start afresh. The following week he dropped Huddlestone to the reserves. The report was in The Telgraph and on the BBC.
frattonaussie
Spurs want to sign everybody. One of the few clubs who wanted Cardiff to win the cup rather than us or a case not wanting Sol to lift the cup. Fck 'em all.
