'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Hull getting the Vital Pompey 'backing'

Hull City are the team that we would like to see playing in the top flight next season, not my vote, yours - although these findings from Chix's poll are thoughts that I do not really agree or disagree with.

Whichever one of the sides that comes up it will be good as it will be another new name to the top flight (when I say top flight I mean in terms of premier league top flight!), ok they might struggle but at least they would have been there - and who knows maybe they could spring a surprise that few expect...

It seems that Hull get the bigger share of the vote as they finished 3rd, and we know from experience what it is like to finish 3rd and then miss out in the play-offs - so with a club being so close to automatic promotion in the first place it appears most side with them in the hope they can complete the job.

On a personal note Bristol City going up would be a closer away game for me to get to, but even though Hull would be a hefty journey for me as I have not been their before the chances are I would add this to my 'schedule' of gruelling away journey's - finances permitting.

All in all though I say 'let the best team win'...

What the poll asked - We have Stoke & The Baggies next season, which of the play-off teams would you like to see promoted?

How you voted - Hull - 3rd should go up anyway 52%, Bristol City - Not too far to travel 33%, Am I bothered? 15%

Current Poll - It is the champions league final tonight, Manyoo v Chelski - do we care who wins?

Do we have a preference as to who we want to win tonight's champions league final between Manyoo and Chelski? Had it been either against a non-British team I guess we would be favouring the English club, but with both English early signs are indicating no one really cares! But who, if anyone do you want - this is what the pompeyrug wants to know with this - 'Who do you want to win the champions league?' Let the poll do the talking before we do when it finishes.

I can't either side attracting the the quality players to stay up. Who the hell wants to live in Hull. Bristol will have it's own issues of getting players to play for them. They may get failed prem players but either will get relegated with Stoke.

As long as don't have to play Hull away first game of the season, I can see an easy 6 points coming our way.
pompeygaz
I've got a sneaky suspicion that Stoke might stay up next season, don't get me wrong I don't think they'll set the world alight but I suspect Pulis will be given a few quid to spend and he'll stick to the same, rigid tactics and heavy fitness training. Perhaps another Bolton in the making.

Hull or Bristol hey? Hmmmm well I choose Hull after their thumping of Watford but i would rather have Bristol come up as I know a few people there so it would be good for the away game to go and visit!

Why do you think Bristol City have never played in the top flight? Do you subscribe to the media view that "the top flight", and football, never existed before the Premiership? If so, shame on you. And as far "who the hell wants to live in Hull"... a bit rich coming from someone who lives in Portsmouth.

MTH, i was wondering how long it would take for someone to 'make that assumption' that you did - as someone who followed pompey outside of the top flight all my life until recently i know all to well about the 'football in england only began when the premier league was born bull*****' and i wasnt suggesting bristol city had never been in the top flight, i merely meant it would be good to see new teams to the premier league - i contemplated changing the wording of how i wrote it before i published, but was hoping people would understand what i was getting at... clearly not everyone did.
pompeyrug
Hi MTH. Glad to tweak a nerve or 2.

New clubs to the PL will always have problem attracting the right players and managers often end up taking some they would rather not. Once settled it is easier no matter where they are geographically.
eastneydave
Don't think this will make much differance to us, only Bristols not so far to travel.

Quote: "Whichever one of the sides that comes up it will be good as it will be another new name to the top flight". Obviously my error in thinking that you were suggesting bristol city had never been in the top flight. You can only imagine how silly I feel. I'll leave you alone now.
MTH
change made - hopefully this will satisfy you!

This is a bit rich Portsmouth! Portsmouth almost got relegated and then have had flukey seasons for as long after that. Portsmouth fans are stuck up *****s.
iNathan
whatever you say mate... if finishing in the top 10 for 2 seasons running, winning the fa cup and getting into europe is 'fliukey' i'll take that... jog on!
pompeyrug
and pompey fans are not stuck up anything mate - weve been through the lot and take nothing for granted... at least the hardcores dont!
