Rudy Raba, the agent for Spurs defender Younes Kaboul has 'exclusively' told setanta sports that we have 'made an approach' for the defender, who looks as though he will be allowed to leave Spurs this summer: 'Portsmouth have called Tottenham. Now we are waiting for Tottenham to respond.'
Agents love to talk up their clients, so with Pompey being FA cup winners we are a prime candidate to 'link' their clients too, although in all fairness links to Kaboul are a long term thing...
Money will be invested this summer, and I feel a sizable amount so it would not surprise me if he did arrive, if the price was right.
Although he might not have the best of seasons with Spurs he is a talent and at what 21 he has plenty of time ahead of him so learning from the likes of Sol Campbell, Sylvain Distin and Linvoy Primus could only benefit him and he 'could' be the future of the Pompey defence along with Martin Cranie, who I still feel does hold a long term future as a central defender and will be Campbell's eventual successor - but not yet as he is not going anywhere just yet, apparently...
Another 'exclusive' is coming from BBC sport, with them 'understanding' that we are having 'discussions' with Mauro Zarate, the 21-year-old Argentine striker who spent the latter part of the season on loan with Birmingham from Qatar club Al-Saad.
He impressed during his time with Birmingham, and gave us some scary moments during our 4-2 win over them at Fratton this season but I am not convinced by this one to be honest.
With his price ranging from anywhere between £3m and £20m in recent weeks this could be a non-starter?
