'Apparently' McFadden Fratton bound...
Now that the season is over and the summer transfer window getting even closer the 'transfer links' will come thick and fast and today has served us up with a helping of James McFadden to Pompey this summer for a whopping £8m!
The suggestion is that although he has pledged to stay with Birmingham despite their relegation Harry Redknapp wants to offer £4m cash plus Dave Nugent - so a 'package' worth £8m for the Scottish international who only moved to the Brummies in January for a fee of £5m, which as good as he is even seemed 'a little hefty' even then?
You do have to improve, but although I am not convinced that he will stay I would like to see Nugent kept as I still believe that he will come good, the fact that McFadden is not worth £8m also makes this a no go for me - but I guess you can never say never...
Harry Kewell, who is now a free agent following his release by Liverpool is also another name being mentioned in the papers today - £50,000 a week will apparently see him sign although this would mean Niko Kranjcar would be off for £10m with Liverpool joining Arsenal in the hunt for the Croatian.
One man that seems to be getting closer and closer to being a nailed on certainty to arrive is Peter Crouch - the giant striker is just a matter of time away from being a confirmed Pompey signing, I have little or no doubt about it...

ok...slow down...(my head hurts...). mcfadden...whilst he was good for birmingham, and not exactly BAD for everton, i dont think his value is 2 million less than kranjcars reported value. i also dont think nugent will be leaving... but 8 million? and he's not even that good...

McFadden has always looked a massive talent but why does he have trouble holding down a regular first team place wherever he has been? Rangers Everton and Birmingham he was in and out of the side. Workrate problem? Who knows but not worth 8 million.

I'm not sure when you think he played for rangers dave, he went straight from motherwell to everton. He is on his day great, but he is only on his day once or twice a season. I nearly laughed my cock off when i heard we robbed £5.5 million of brum for him

15million for crouch...even the tabloids have given up with that story, and brought i to a more realistic 8 million...(ironicly, the same amount birmingham want for mcfadden...hmmm...)

Whilst James McFadden can obviously have moments of brilliance, his consistency is shambolic. He drifts in and out of games and £8mil is about £5mil too much. As for Crouch, I'd say about £8mil is about right but don't forget they're dirty robbing bas**rds. They want £10mil for Carson!!
As for Kranjcar, I'd keep hold of him. He's a gem of a player and £10mil is a bargain. He's the difference from you being a good team and just an average team.

Theres a lot of rumours around, some of them happen, some don't. McFadden? Who-are-ya? I thought he was in a boy band? I don't think Kranjcar will leave, certainly hope not. Think we might get Crouch though.

Put it this way, Crouch was bought from Southampton for around 7-8 Million and since then he's consistently scored goals for club and country. Do you really think Liverpool would let him go for what they paid for him? They'd be daft to.

Well Crouch's contract expires next summer so they're not likely to get more than the 8million for him anyway.
