'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Redknapp on winning the FA cup

Last, but by no means least we have what Harry Redknapp had to say to sky sports as the reactions on our FA cup win from so many involved with Portsmouth Football Club come to an end.

After a long career as a player and a manager Redknapp was finally able to win a major piece of domestic silverware after leading us to the 1-0 win over Cardiff, and he was absolutely delighted for all concerned, particularly after a difficult season personally: 'it's fantastic feeling. To win the FA Cup is a dream come true.

'I'm a family man and it is all for my family. I'm just so pleased for them and so pleased for everyone.

'It's been a difficult year in many ways for me but as far as the football is concerned it's fantastic.

'In life, everyone goes through tough times and it's been a difficult few weeks but we got the result today and that's great.

'For me the biggest feeling is one of relief. There are no easy games any more and Cardiff gave us a tough battle.

'But you just have to see it through when the pressure is on just like I've had to go into work every day with a smile on my face. That's my job to make sure everyone's up and not feel sorry for myself.'

Now we have the uefa cup to look forward to, and for the first time he has admitted that he is looking forward to this having said he could not care about it for so long: 'it's fantastic. I'm looking forward to it.'

It was a fantastic way to end a fantastic season, yep it had some ups and downs but 8th place in the league and FA cup winners can't be bad can it!

One Harry Redknapp,
There's only one Harry Redknapp,
One Harry Redknapp...There's only one Harry Redknapp...

Is Kanu the King? No Harry is. We all jibe at some of his tactics but he won us the FA Cup for ****'s sake.

Genius indeed but there will always be those who associate him with the seedier side of football. Let's hope they finally go away.

The man obviously knows more about his team than I do. I would never have played Kanu up front like he did. But then, thats why he's Harry Redknapp and I'm jus lil ole me! Thoroughly approved of starting Mendes instead of Diop. All the players stepped up to the table - fantastic. Harry deserved everything he got this weekend, he is marvellous. I hope all his troubles go away and I wish his family well.

Harry's the man down to earth family man right attitude who could be better.

I was so proud of him leading out the team at Wemberley - and then holding the cup aloft. And the way he went up to each player and gave them a hug before kick-off. He's forgotten more about football than I will ever know, and he's genuinely a lovely, family man. I'm so pleased for him winning some real silverware at last, he deserves it.

Thank you Harry for the greatest weekend of my life.
