Various other player reactions on cup win

Various other player reactions on cup win

Speaking on sky sports a whole host of Pompey players heaped praise on Harry Redknapp following our cup win at the weekend.

Most one of them had a good word or two to say about the 'gaffer', but most importantly were delighted with our winning the cup, including Glen Johnson: 'he has giving us the belief at the start.

'Everyone dreams of playing in a final and our dream has come true.'

For Sylvain Distin it was the team effort, which starts from the top though - this cup win also vindicated his move to Pompey in his eyes: 'the whole team, the whole squad, we all graft and work hard for each other. For me it has been fantastic.

'I came here for a challenge and I have got it. It can't ask for anything more.'

Lassana Diarra, who has committed his future to Pompey maintained his unbeaten FA cup record - we should have known we would win with him playing: 'it was a good game. They deserved to be here. We played our football, but the most important thing is that we won.'

The madman of the side Hermann Hreidarsson now finally has his hands on a cup winners medal, and with it a fitting end to what has been an outstanding season for him when little, or none expected a fraction of what we got from him: 'it's been a long time coming. We've been waiting for this game for a while, we fancied our chances but it's a massive relief to have won it.

'They played well, but we had a few chances and got 1-0 up.'

Asked if it was his greatest achievement in football to date he said: 'by a mile. It's fantastic.'

I think we can all safely say the same, and echo most, if not all of the thoughts shared here by all...

Well at the start of the FA Cup run I made a wish that we would win (I caught a fallen out eye-lash which apparently is lucky according to my mrs), I kept it completely secret until today, so who says wishes don't come true! :)

Talking of reactions, did anyone pick up The Times today? It certainly becomes apparent when one of the big 4 doesn't win the cup how little some of the press care about the other clubs, not a single mention of the cup final on the front or back page and even in the football pull out the front page of that only has a little bit in the top right corner!! There is more inside but when I looked at the player ratings they gave Johnson a 3! I know it wasn't his best game ever but it was never a 3...

I didn't have a bet that we would win the cup; something I usually do. I don't think I'll have a wager on the UEFA cup either.

a uefa cup run would be nice - BUT with all the pressures of being holders of the FA cup, and a very tough premier league, it will be very difficult...

A 3 for Johnson? What about his saving block in the dying minutes? That deserves a 8 at least for that!
