Sol on the privilege of lifting the cup

Sol on the privilege of lifting the cup

In the first of several 'players reactions' on our FA cup win, I concentrate on what Sol Campbell had to say to sky sports, and he says it was a 'privilege' to lift the FA cup with Pompey: 'it was a privilege.

'To lift the cup any time is, but being the captain it's brilliant, you can't describe it.

'It's a fantastic feeling and it puts a stamp on the season. It's unbelievable for us. And also we're in Europe as well now, which is brilliant.'

We're all going on a European tour... yes Ken we can now sing that song safe in the knowledge that it will happen - Ken and Rob will know what I mean :-)

For Campbell, who has a wealth of experience and has lifted many a piece of silverware in his career to have this mean so much to him shows just what a fantastic football club Pompey is.

Yep delighted for Sol, i am not sure how much of a future he has as a regular 1st team starter from the second half of the season; playing every gane really took it's toll. although i guess if Mensah turns up he Sol will be able to get rested and will last alright, well i hope. i've still got the signed photo on my wall Rug.

It was also a Privalege to watch you lift the cup Sol! When Sol went up to lift the FA Cup, we were there, we were there!

When Sol went up to lift the FA Cup, we were there, we were there! it was great to see him lift the cup. we will however need another centre back this summer, as he isnt getting any younger!

When Sol went up to lift the FA Cup, we were there, we were there! how many times have we sung that in the last couple of days and will agin in the weeks/months/years to come? russell is right a central defender will come in this summer be it Mensah or someone else and I still think Glen Johnson will end up playing there - and of course there is Linvoy!!

Can't wait for the new season to start so I can hear "when Sol went up to lift the FA Cip - we were there, we were there" There you see, I was going to abbreviate that but I could'nt. Have been singing it at the top of my lungs all day while cleaning the oven etc. (Not feeling so good neither - the fumes from that oven cleaner - should've kept my mouth shut really)!!

when sol went up to lift the fa cup we were there, we were there... i too have been signing that - even if it has only been in my head sometimes - over and over! so people still dont get it that it should be 'we were there' now and not 'we'll be there'...
yep, it might have been a privilege for him but it was an honour for me to see him lift it - getting all emotional now!

We have been singing the song for along time now,It was great singing it at white hart lane esspecailly, but its even better with the change of lyrics because "WE WERE THERE, WE WERE THERE"

Now I've got the pic of Sol lifting the cup aloft I realise I had seen it before a lot over the last few weeks - in my imagination. There was already a pic around of the Pompey captain lifting the cup but this photo's in colour!

Re central defensive cover - don't forget Linvoy's back next season.

No retirement plans

Doyle might have turned 35 recently, which in reality means he's in the final throws of his playing career, but he's not ready to call it a day with Pompey (or otherwise) anytime soon.

On this day in history...20th October

A look back at this day in history, and what was happening with Pompey courtesy of our sister site PompeyRama, 20th October.

Linganzi presence needed

I've liked Rose since he signed in the summer but perhaps the former Oxford midfielder lacks the physicality Pompey sometimes need, which is why Linganzi has come in of late.

Pompey 'sent a message' at Plymouth

I'm still not completely sure if we should see Plymouth as 'two-points dropped?' Although I'm learning towards it being a result Pompey will be happier with than our hosts.
