'If It's Football, It's Vital'

The time is here... almost!

The greatest moment in most, if not all of our Pompey supporting days is just about here - the FA cup final, and does it get much better than this...

Pompey in the cup final, something that most of us could, and have only dreamt about over the years is about to become a reality when at 3pm tomorrow afternoon we take to the field to battle it out with Cardiff to be crowned the best team in the worlds premiere knockout competition.

Yep, we have known for several weeks that we were going to be in the cup final, and the form on the whole since we made it through has shown that the players had become well aware of this too with little or no chances taken as a chance to miss out on this showpiece event was not wanted - but the reality of exactly just what we are about to embark on has 100% without doubt sank in for me this week.

My whole life I have watched the FA cup final, taking in the hours of build-up and then enjoying - or not as is often the case - the cup final itself, always dreaming that I would one day be able to see Pompey as one of the sides on that day… Even with our growth over the past few years, as much as the hope become more and more a possibility I still did not fully believe that we could do it - but we have, so lets enjoy and revel in it.

The past X amount of weeks are all forgotten now, we go in with a clean slate and we will win... I am not saying this with me expecting a win as Cardiff are 'only a Championship side' I am saying this as I have full belief that we will go on and lift the cup to compensate in some way for our disappointing end of season form.

I had some lingering doubts that perhaps we would lose, and although I am still concerned as to who might score the goal(s) as we do not look like scoring, and who the creative influence might be, as again we have not seen a lot of this recently we will finish the job and as I say these lingering doubts are now gone - they went on Sunday after the Fulham game when Harry Redknapp came onto the pitch during the lap of honour to address the crowd, his words that 'we will win the cup' convinced me that we can and will do it!

Other than winning the league does it really get much better than the cup final?

I am excited, expectant but most of all relishing the day out at Wembley, seeing the players walking out on the turf in their suits, taking to the pitch for the anthems and the thought of seeing Pompey parading around the Wembley turf with the FA cup in hand makes me immensely proud...

Now lets go and win the cup!

Pre-match meet up

Prior to the game we also need to confirm a Vital Pompey meeting for a couple of pre-match beers?

As said before I have to meet my sister and her boyfriend, as well as several people that I have travelled to games with for the past decade or so, with these meetings scheduled to take place at The Torch, which along with the other pubs Pompey have been allocated is along Wembley Park.

Those coming in on the tube need only get off at Wembley Park Station and it is 150m away apparently. You go to the end of Wembley way - walking away from Wembley stadium - and then turn right and keep walking alongside the main road and you will find it - it will be packed out though, but then again what pub will not be tomorrow!

More details about The Torch - and its location can be found here.

The First Class Sports Bar is another being mentioned by some people, which is also along the same route, but in fact even closer to Wembley stadium than The Torch!

More details about The First Class Sports Bar - and its location can be found here.

I am almost certain The Torch is where I will be though, so anyone who wants to meet up just give the word, if you have my contract details you know what to do, if not just ask or contact someone else that is going who most probably will.

I am bricking nervous ...butterflies, no finger nails....excited ..proud of the lads PUP
Less than 27 hours to go. Neves kicking in. The thought of losing is scaring me too much, even though I think & hope we will win. Forever Pompey.
I hope you all have a great day and the cup comes back to Pompey. The tipsters over here are jumping on the Cardiff bandwagon and 80% of them are tipping a Cardiff win.
I follow United but go to the Cup Final every year with my Father-in Law,I wanted you to win it after beating us at OT,so don't let me down tomorrow.See you all in The Green Man beer garden.
Tomorrow will be a day of destiny for many of our players! It their time to come of age and prove themselves as men! (Right enough cliches) Lets do the Club, the Players, the coaching staff, Joe , Tony Harry and Sacha proud tomorrow and prove that we ARE the 12th man in the Pompey team. No matter what happens we all need to sing out our hearts for the best season that we have seen in decades! PUP PPU! PUP PPU!
Y A W N............Biggest non event final in the history of the cup. Pompey v Cardiff ??? Cup winners 2008, who cares
sod off threestands. What do you want Chelsea-Man Utd?
threestands you're a ******** muppet - keep telling fans of pompey and cardiff it is 'Biggest non event final in the history of the cup' and see what repsonses you get... they probably wouldnt be as polite as mine you tool!
no matter what some muppets think i cannot wait for this, we have dreamt about this all our lives, now the time has come - we will win it, scrappy 1-0 win or goal fest doesnt worry me so long as we do, and we will! play up pompey...
Listen boys, take no notice of the pleb threestands,I am going to Moscow(via Poland) through the week to watch United, but as I said earlier,I go to every F.A.Cup Final and I'm looking forward to this more than I did last year. Two clubs who really didnt think they would win it back in January in the Final makes out for a great day. Mr threestands knows he wishes he was going with whoever his team are.
Sod off, threestands, your just jealous! WEMBERLEE, WEMBERLEE! Hope we bring the Cup back, Firstly for Harry, then for the boys and especially for US! Only 22 and three quarter hours to go!
Threestands.... how about the South Stand , North Stand and the ratton end they will all by at Wembley tomorrow .. What about ou Kermit !!
.... Or F-f-f-f-ratton End as an alternative !! (must get a new keyboard!)
16:55 - This tme tomorrow - We'll be waiting for Sol to lift the Cup
Chix, hope your right ..the dozen or so kittens I am having at the moment will be very happy
17:05 for the players -> the bubbly will be flowing, for the fans -> leaving stadium in order to get some "liquid refreshment" lol.
What a dismal prospect Pompey v Cardiff. I'm off to B&Q to get a large sheet of MDF and a can of spray paint. I'll paint the MDF and watch it dry. 100% more interesting and exciting than watching two characterless teams tainting the Wembly turf.
guys just ignore threestands - the tosser clearly has nothing better to do... he is posting all over the site, but try to ignore him them the sad little man will probably get bored...
18:00 - 21 hours to kick-off - I just know I'm not gonna sleep tonight ! COME ON YOU BLUES !
20 hours and forty mins to kick off. I'm so excited I've just cleaned the bathroom! HARRY REDKNAPPS BLUE ARMY!
Yep, starting to feel it now, COME ON YOU BLUES!! Just can't understand my kids, they just seem to think that this is somewhere near normal for Pompey!! Oh to be 8 again!
threestooges why post as Portsmouth member scared to show your true colours you spineless coward. Rug your right just ignore him/her now he/she is getting more borring than mdf.
WEMBERLEY WEMBERLEY - When Sol goes up to lift the FA cup we'll be there, we'll be there. And 3stands will be watching MDF dry, and I don't care, I don't care! I am getting so nervous and excited now, this is such a momentous day. I won't sleep a wink tonight! Got the FA cup shirt with my name printed on it today, and the megastore was buzzing. and so am I. WEMBERLEY WEMBERLEY!!!
Come on you blues
have a great day its been a while coming
Can't sleep!!!! By the way threestands - ***** right off and get a life.
Well this is it..the countdown time. This is the most important day in Pompeys history- win and we are a club to be reckoned with next season- lose and we will lose our drive and some important players and we will struggle for the next few seasons. Let's thrash them so we can jam a Cardiff flag up threestands arse.
HAVE A FANTASTIC DAY LADS AND LASSES, DO US PROUD....PLAY UP POMPEY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
