'If It's Football, It's Vital'

James the Vital Player of the Year

David James was the Player of the Year, not my vote, yours - although these findings from storagematt's poll are thoughts that I do agree with.

The inaugural Vital Pompey Player of the Year award this season went to James, who I feel does deserve this as his presence and ability has saved us so many points, and won us many others. It is a team game but without him I do not think we would have finished 8th, and I feel almost certainly would not be in the FA cup final.

My thinking is it was a toss up between James and Sylvain Distin - and Distin did pick up this from his teammates last week - but James did just about shade this and deserved it.

Some might argue that the poll was a bit deceptive as Hermann Hreidarsson was not included - an oversight from storagematt there, but I still do not think that he would have won it? He would have been high on the list I feel but not the winner, although he has had a much better season than some will credit him with.

What the poll asked - Vital's Pompey Player of the season

How you voted - James 49%, Distin 20%, Niko 15%, Johnson 6%, Muntari 5%, Diarra 3%, Campbell 1%, Defoe 1%

Current Poll - It was another disappointing defeat yesterday, but the effort did seem to be there even if the end product worryingly was not.

The season came to an end on Sunday, well as far as the league goes and although it was another disappointing defeat the application was there, just not the final end product but who did stand out against Fulham - this is what the we want to know with this - 'Man of the match against Fulham?' Let the poll do the talking before we do when it finishes.

On behalf of Vital Portsmouth, I shall present Jamo with his award after we have won the FA Cup, providing I can get on the pitch.

As mentioned before - I think our defence on a whole deserves the award as they have all been fantastic. So what date does the premier league kick off on again?

what does he win? a vital pompey t-shirt? although in all honesty, think glen johnson deserves it more!!!

Jamo & Distan as expected & deserved. Intresting looking at 3rd-6th Kranjcar,Johnson,Muntari,& Diarra another season together could be excitng if we can keep them all

Where was Hermann in the poll ? Surely the player of the season. He was the one we expected nothing from and has delivered over and above what any of us could have expected.

Herman was not in the poll, but I was pleasantly surprised at his performances over the season, & always seemed to be are best bet to score from a corner
