Redknapp leave? Never. Never Ever!

Redknapp leave? Never. Never Ever!

Ok, Harry Redknapp will obviously leave at some point as he cannot stay for forever but he has denied rumours that he could leave after the FA cup final, telling sky sports: 'Never. Never ever. No, not at all.

'What am I going to do with my time? What would I do with my life?

'I love it. I enjoy coming to work here every day. The people I work with and for. The owner's been brilliant. The players are great.

'This is my life. This is what I enjoy doing. I look forward to coming here every day. I don't know what I'd do without it.'

With Pompey becoming firmly established as a top 10 side, the thought was a possible cup win this could be viewed as his 'crowing glory' with us and he would not really be able to achieve much else - but he does not share these views as he believes there is still plenty of work that can and will be done: 'I've built a team here. I'm proud of what we're doing here.

'Next year you want to be up in that top half again. Being in the top half of the Premier League in itself is a fantastic achievement for any club - apart from the top four.

'We've done it the last two years and we want to be in the top half and as high as we can next year. There's so much to look forward to. I wouldn't be walking away from that.'

I must admit that these thoughts had crossed my mind - the thoughts that he may well decide to move on - but all being well this will not be the case, and this does appear to be the case.

He can infuriate me at times - but what manager would not? - but I do think that he is still the best man for the job and will continue to be the man to move us forward as we have been doing.

Harry fuels these rumours himself as he stated in an interview a few weeks ago he was thinking about retiring.

See Harry on sky sports think Harry will stay as long as he's needed. Can't see it being any time soon.

He may have left for the England job but I doubt if he will go yet. Winning the cup would be fantastic for him, for me & everybody connected with the club. Getting in Europe will be a challenge HR will fancy. Another 2-3 years, I think he wants to have a season if we get the new ground. It is quite scary to think of time without Harry because it his pull that attracts the quality of players we have. Similar clubs to us may have more money but they don't have Harry. Do not under estimate what he has done for Pompey. Yes he get's it wrong on certain things but they do. But we wouldn't have achieved fck all without him. Money is part of the battle, getting the players here & playing is the art.

Obviously being a great respector of but perhapse a touch "too realistic" about self publicising Harry; i might recall various other things he has said that have been U turned within weeks. Frankly storagematt I am also not sure he is that bothered about Euro football either he always said "it's pointless for any team out side of the "big four". Now i confess uup to about 10 years ago i dreamt of seeing pompey win the FA cup but i think I think the lack of proffesionalism and sacrifice 5th is unforgivable (ask rug what he thought about the Boro game) but i do understand for Harry's generation the FA cup is a treasured bit of siver and personal pride. If we win it who will disagree, if we dont; will we still agree it was worth the sacrificing 5th? As for Harry being the best manager i seem to recall plenty on this site considered big sam his equal and purely on results who could argue, but christ big Sam is a big bore.

I am of Herry's generation and I think the FA Cup is equal to, for different reasons, winning the Premiership title. I agree with Harry and I don't rate the UEAFA cup at all. I do think the Champions League Cup has some merit. For once I agree with Harry in sacrificing 5th place (I never thought it was achievable anyway) to keep players fresh and also to experiment with the line up. Mvemba has benefited from this approach and others have been found wanting. Better to find out now rather than at the start of next season. I don't think Harry is the best manager although I will give him credit for what he has achieved for Pompey and I think others could have done just as well. Perhaps I think this way because I don't like his style rather than his ability. Big Sam doesn't do much for me either. Next season is going to be hard on everyone as defence of the Cup, Europe and the league is going to take its toll and achieving similar results to this year will be difficult with or without Harry.

Northampton (h) - Securing home advantage?

Some could view this as a 'dead rubber!' It isn't as Champions Northampton will want to end on a high and Pompey will want 'an advantage' against Plymouth in the play-offs. Right?

Pompey MotM at Hartlepool

Pompey went into the penultimate game with a slim chance of a top 3 finish. A 2-0 win at Hartlepool saw the Blues do what we needed but wins for others ended those chances.
