Sylvain Distin has been named the Player of the Year - having been voted this by his teammates.
The French defender, who arrived on a free from Citeh last summer has had a fantastic season and as such his teammates believe that he deserved the honour of being voted Player of the Year - I would think that David James must have finished a close second though...
Marc Wilson was named as the Young Player of the Year, with Harry Redknapp selecting this award, which should in theory bode well for his Pompey future? He has been named on the bench a couple of times this season.
Goal of the Season was awarded to Noe Pamarot for his strike against Newcastle in the 4-1 spanking we gave them at St James' back in November - this was on my birthday! This was voted for by listeners of The Quay.
Readers of The News selected Redknapp as our greatest ever manager and also selected a greatest ever side, which included 3 of this seasons squad James, Sol Campbell and Glen Johnson.
The remainder of the greatest ever team is as follows, which was described on the Pompey Site:
Jimmy Dickinson and John Beresford completed the line-up at the back alongside Campbell and Johnson.
Peter Harris and Jack Froggatt - like Dickinson, members of the side that won back-to-back top-flight titles in 1949 and 1950 - filled the two wide midfield berths, with Paul Merson and Robert Prosinecki in the centre.
Guy Whittingham, who scored a club-record 42 league goals in 1992/93, and Duggie Reid, another of the heroes from the double-championship-winning era, won the vote to lead Pompey's attack.
Distin was clearly delighted with his award and said: 'I'm thrilled. It's a special honour to be voted Players' Player of the Year because it comes from your teammates'.
Congratulations to him, and all the other winners this season.
