'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Linvoy gets his new deal - get in there!

Peter Storrie last week said that Linvoy Primus would probably be getting a new contract... there is no longer any 'probably' about it as the hugely popular defender has been given, and signed a new year-long contract.

A delighted Primus told the Pompey Site: 'I was at the training ground last week when Peter Storrie pulled me to one side and said that the club wanted to offer me another year.

'He said he had spoken with the owner and Harry Redknapp and although they recognised I had not fulfilled what this season's contract required, they felt I deserved a new contract for next season.

'I'm so happy. I'm so, so pleased to have been given another year, so my first words are 'thank you'.'

Storrie believes that he deserves the chance to play for the club again and had this himself to say, also on the Pompey Site: 'Linvoy has been a fantastic servant to this club both on and off the field.

'He deserves the opportunity to get fully fit and have a go next season. There was no hesitation in the minds of myself, Sacha Gaydamak or Harry Redknapp to give him another year.

'So many people wrote him off earlier in his career, but Linvoy has such strength of character that he kept fighting back and proving people wrong.

'When I pulled Linvoy to one side at the training ground and offered him another year, he was so delighted. It's richly deserved. We look after the players that look after us'.

The terms of his new deal are the same as last summers contract, which I assume includes the play 20 games and you get another deal clause again? Clearly he was not able to do this this season due to the knee injury.

I am absolutely delighted, over the moon as I no doubt guess every single other Pompey fan out there is!

My worries that the club had changed completely and no ounce of sentiment was left in it have been dispelled with this news, I now look forward to seeing him playing again next season, and I have no doubt that as always once Primus is in he will be hard to get out again.

Well done Linvoy, he is the type of charactor this club needs, a true proffesional in all respects. Good luck and win back your place on merrit.

I cannot imagine that there is a single Pompey supporter who is not chuffed by this news. Young or old, Linvoy is a role model to society and the game and should always be remembered within Portsmouth City. It is a great day that the club are willing to stand behind such a top top man.

One things for sure, if anyone can return to match fitness after such injury problems and age, it will be Linvoy.
