Will James be fit for the cup final?

Quite what the score is with David James I do not know, and I guess is anybodies guess really?

Some 'reports' say that he is making slow progress in his return from injury and is a doubt for the cup final, others are saying he is making a 'speedy' return and is doing some light training again, so will be fit...

Harry Redknapp however has said that a scan taking place today will determine if he will be fit or not, but if he is not 100% he will not play: 'the calf is still a bit sore and David is having another scan. There are certainly no guarantees he will be ready and if he is not 100 percent then I certainly wouldn't take any chances.

'Hopefully the scan will show it has healed but if that's not the case then it's going to be slowly, slowly'.

All we can do is sit and wait, and indeed hope that he gets the thumbs up as we desperately need him for the cup final!

Jamie Ashdown is a good keeper but anyone in any doubts as to how important James is to us and just how immense his presence alone is need only look at the past couple of games to know this - not that I am blaming Ashdown for these defeats, as I am not.

Speaking of Ashdown he has today said that he may well consider moving on this summer, but only if he is not wanted by Redknapp. But he did say he will not be 'banging down his door' unless it is a premier league or top championship side that wanted him.

Must admit, I'd be worried if Jamo was missing on 17th.

in all honesty when we made it into the cup final i was 'quite' confident of finishing the job, but our showings in recent weeks have left me starting to 'worry' slightly, the thought that jamo might miss out leaves me feeling almost terrified tbh!

He's worth so much to us, I can't bare the thought of him not playing in the Final. I say we try every known remedy, cream, injections and physio in the land.

What is our best season in living memory is turning a bit sour. The limp finish has taken a bit of the gloss of what has been a fantastic campaign, but all that pales into insignificence with the cup. Not winning is not an option. David James is a as desperate to play as we are to have him playing. He has 2 losers medals & this may be his last chance. I would take an 80% fit Jamo if the chance was there. Please Pompey don't fck up our greatest moment as a supporter.
