Reserves end with a win - and news on Nugent

Pompey ended, what has quite frankly been an abysmal season as far as the reserves are concerned with a victory, and a late one at that against Fulham last night - winning 1-0.

Danijel Subotic scored the injury time winner for Pompey, starting in a side that included Noe Pamarot - back from his hamstring injury, Richard Hughes, Lucien Aubey and Martin Cranie.

There was however an injury scare for Pompey - which could be a massive blow ahead of this weekends premier league fixture with Fulham as well as the FA cup final - as Dave Nugent, who was scheduled to start alongside Subotic, had to withdraw after feeling what is described as 'a slight twinge in his groin'.

Early thoughts, and I must stress they are merely fears as it could have been a very wise precautionary measure, are that he might have aggravated the injury that kept him out for two months and had been troubling him all season...

Pompey 1 - Subotic 90
Fulham 0

Begovic; Pamarot, Cranie (c), Ward, Aubey; Ritchie, Christophe, Hughes, Blackman; Subotic, Cowan-Hall
Subs not used: Smith, Pack, Kilbey, Hassani

Well he doesn't want to ruin his chances of a place on the bench at Wembley, does he?

you may well jest matt but if he is ruled out we might not be laughing if we are left in a position were we have little or no options at all...

There is always Subotic to sit on the bench. He may be young but if we need an option then surely he is it if Nugent can't play

Frightening thought isn't it, that we are sooooo short of options up front.

No way is Subotic a bench option - he's only scored once in 6 reserve matches and has zero league experience. I've had this sneaking feeling that Nuge is going to get the winner on May 17 - half fit or not!

I bet Nugent does it on the 17th as well. Wouldn't that be grand?

Evans - Right back or right midfield?

Drew Talbot and Adam Buxton are fit but Gareth Evans continues to fill in at right back. Should this change? If so where would it leave the battle between Evans and Carl Baker?
