Now that is how to promote a new shirt!

Although to be honest my opinion is that shirts should not be changed every year, as they seem to be doing so with us now, you cannot knock the way Pompey are promoting the new away shirt!

I do not live in Pompey anymore but I was just phoned by pompey4me who told me a huge shirt - 180 x 120 foot apparently, as I have just heard Lucius Peart tell The Quay - is flying over Pompey to promote it, on what is a glorious day too...

If you are out and about in Pompey today get some photos if you can and forward them to me and/or put them in the Albums forum so others can see it.

The shirt is white again has blue sleeves, a blue collar and gold strips down the side apparently and has the brand new crest, which has been worked on for several months - if/when I am able to get hold of any images of the kit and crest I will get them on the site.

We will be using this new shirt for the first time this weekend against Fulham, so they will have to change from their traditional white.

UPDATE: An image of the new away shirt has just been made available to me, so here it is

No - It's the new away shirt (2nd shirt, as we may have a European one as well) for next season.

It's awful, looks like a cricket shirt.

The home kit's all blue with gold trimmings.

If it's the away shirt, why will we wear it on saturday?
06/05/2008 10:58:00

well no one will wear it on saturday... as we arent playing until sunday are we :-)
its a publicity thing isnt it, wear the new away shirt - even tho we are at home - to try and sell a few more...

i will tell you what i dont like... the new crest, maybe it'll look better when it isnt an image on a screen, but i dont particularly like it tbh, what was wrong with the 'traditional' old english style portsmouth fc font?

So when do we get to see the new shirt? Nort too sure about the new crest. Although to be honest it's all about the team in the shirt rather than the shirt itself

Well it certainly doesn't end for next season. I can tell you the new badge looks fine on the kit - it's just the kit. Argh.

Doesn't look bad, although I have just spoken to a mate of mine who got a close up of the flying shirt as it went by his office window and he said it had P&O on the front and not OKI. Either that is true or he needs his eyesight testing as it is quite clear that OKI is on the font in the picture and I thought it was confirmed OKI ould be our sponsor again for the 08/09 season??

Also notice that the away shorts are white. I wonder if that means home shorts will be blue as we wore in the semi final.

I can see the cricket comment now - very true. It looks like something from the Indian Premier League. I like it though, it's got a sort of summery feel to it. Still not convinced by the new badge though.

So if it is released on Thursday does that mean it will be delivered in time for Sunday's game? It would be strange to see the Pompey crowd turn up in mainly white!

No doubt the home kit will go blue ith white trim. The crest seems like what we had late 80s early 90s.

Yes I would say its a good bet home kit to be all blue I can't see Canterbury not cashing in Last years shorts were cheep with an iron on transfer type crest hope next seasons are a lot better. not so keen on the new crest but getting used to it after a few hours, Last years still 100% better, shirt looks better than I expected. .

it was only the other day when i realised that we didnt have any white socks, now we do. it makes sense that we would be in all blue next season, esp seeing as thats what we are wearing in the final. i like all blue, but we only see it away to liverpool and arsenal (maybe man u too)
