'If It's Football, It's Vital'

'Arry not looking to do any favours

Harry Redknapp has promised other relegation threatened sides that Fulham will get no favours from Pompey next weekend, telling the Pompey Site: 'I've been on the wrong end of that sort of situation in the past and I think it's disrespectful, so I certainly won't be putting out a reserve side.

'I don't think that would be fair to the other teams battling with Fulham to survive, so I will be putting out my strongest side and looking to win the game for sure'.

We certainly do know more than most just what it is like to be embroiled in a relegation battle, going to the final day quite a few times so I would hope we would give it our all!

Redknapp has said recently that he has been happy with our form, yet at the same time has also said he wanted us to 'find some form' ahead of the cup final, which did not seem to make sense, but he wants us to go into the cup final off the back of a good performance and a win: 'we want to win next week. We want to finish as high as we can. If we'd had a half-decent finish to the season the worst we'd have finished would have been sixth.

'It's important for us to get a result and put in a good performance. Some players still need to show me they want to be a part of the side at Wembley'.

I still suspect that the team for the cup final has already chosen itself, injuries - hopefully not - or suspensions aside, but you never know...

Whilst I do not doubt Redknapp will select a strong side, if recent showings are anything to go on I am not entirely sure how 'up for it' we will be. Fulham will be going for everything but I doubt that too many as far as Pompey are concerned will fancy that, as they will not want to put their cup final place in jeopardy...

We did the double over Reading, we did the double over Birmingham so it is only fair that we do the double over Fulham.

We should think about doing ourselves a favour before anyone else. We should save those for the cup final rather than risk them in a pointless game. We have had the benefit in the past of playing teams who were in holiday mood when we were fighting for our lives. It's the swings & roundabouts of life. Getting our hands on that cup is all that matters.

We don't need you favours! :-P Harry might choose his best side but will they be willing to put in that crunching tackle? Anyone got a spare ticket?
oranje_emu
spare ticket for sunday?
if we dont get a result, at least show a performance we wont win the cup anyway, see we have to turn up sunday... we cannot put in another ***** poor showing, lose a 4th game running then expect this losing mentality to suddenly be forgotten on cup final day - it doesnt work like that.

We need some momentum going for the final. Don't give them an inch, we're not a charity. We just need a result there are also still places to play for

Win & it gives us 8th or as high as 6th depending on others, but more important momentum for the final
pompeyyong
momentum, thats what ive been banging on about for weeks - the higher we finish in the league as well the more prize money we get, and the better quality player we will be able to attract, 8th would be ok, 7th very good, 6th fantastic - we 'should' have finished at least 6th the season but only have ourselves to blame...
