Redknapp on transfer links

Redknapp on transfer links

Harry Redknapp have moved to 'play down' talk of a Pompey interest in Luisao, Pascal Chimbonda or Paul Robinson by telling The News: 'Luisao - who? Sorry, don't know him.

'Chimbonda, no, he's a right-back and I've got the best right-back in England in Glen Johnson. I don't need another.

'I don't need Paul Robinson either, no. He's a good little player, but no'.

Just because Redknapp says that he is not after any of these fellas is does not make it true... however my own thinking is that this is probably the case.

Luisao, I do not know a huge amount about him - I do know he is a decent defender but are we ever likely to pay £12m for a defender? Nope, I thought not...

With us already having Glen Johnson my very first thought when these 'links' with Pascal Chimbonda first arrived were 'when we already have one of the best there is, why would we need him?' Granted he can play at left back or in the middle but he will want to play week in week out and I cannot see this happing with us already having names a head of him, so not a complete no but I would say pretty doubtful...

As far as Robinson goes, I am not going to beat about the bush, so I will get straight to the point - he quite simply is not of a standard that is good enough for us.

So, as I say although Redknapp might say something it does not make it true, in this instance I think it is fair to say there is a fair chance none of these players will be arriving this summer.

I think none of them will come to us Robinson not good enough,Chimbonda would not be a starter & Luisao said he would be dissapionted if Benfica missed out on champions league, so you would think hes looking for a team in the champions league, & 12m?
