'Arry wants more English talent

Harry Redknapp has said that he would like to sign more English talent this summer, but as the best home grown talent can be so expensive it can be difficult as he said.

I think it is fair to say that although there is not as much of a shortage as people might be led to believe, the amount that are of a genuine quality that would improve us at a price that would be affordable is hard - do not get me wrong we are short of quality English players these days, it is as said the over inflated price tag that goes with them.

Peter Crouch is one name that is constantly linked with us, so it would not surprise me if he returned this summer as I do think he will leave Liverpool. I am not a fan but Jermaine Pennant could also be a possibility, as could Shaun Wright Phillips but I dare say their prices will be fairly high, maybe too high...

All being well I believe that in the coming years we have a chance of having more British, if not English talent coming through as the Academy side seem to be producing some quality - so as long as they carry on progressing as they are at an early age I do not think we will have a shortage in the future.

In the short term I do not think we will get that many Englishmen arriving this summer, but in the years to come I think we will have our fair share - although in all fairness we are not without a good amount of English talent within our squad as it is are we really...

As long as it is top notch talent they can come from planet Zog but absolutely, the more English the better. Though not from Wales, I think we should draw a line with them.

I agree Matt - we should avoid anyone with sheep in their lineage.

I think "HR" has recognised that African talent is rather fickle. Just compere the effort and application of our past loved English players Gary and Matt.

The more English the better, the more home grown players even better.;

I still think our best chance of an English player would be Peter crouch.

peter crouch looks likely - but in all honesty, how many english players are for sale, AND good enough? not many, particually with clubs like spurs picking them all out for ridiculas amounts of money (darren bent, gareth bale etc.)

No Crawley return for Tubbs

Tubbs doesn't have a future at Pompey, he's on the transfer-list but offloading him could be difficult given his wages. These wouldn't be anywhere within Crawley's reach.

Pitfalls of Sheffield Wednesday loanee returning

As Catlin put it 'the gamble' of aiming sign Sheffield Wednesday loanee Lavery has to be one Pompey fans understand. It isn't as cut and dried as saying 'he's a free agent' sign him!

Lassie coming home...well sort of!

A-box-to-box player, capable of defensive duties, with ability to burst forward with intent to make things happen - Diarra is Pompey's man and wants an England return. I jest of course!

Will pair stay at Fratton?

It's been made (more than once) clear by Catlin Pompey want Davies & Hollands to stay. Both (also more than once) have said they want to this - deals have to be right for all concerned.
