Luckily we don't have a Shinawatra in charge!

Luckily we don't have a Shinawatra in charge!

With the absolutely crazy events going on at Citeh where it appears Sven Goran Eriksson will be sacked at the end of the season by the megalomaniac Thaksin Shinawatra we can count ourselves lucky.

Lucky you might ask? Well lucky to have Sasha Gaydamak as our owner is what Harry Redknapp has told The News: 'it's hard to believe what is happening at Manchester City really.

'What will happen in this country in years to come is you will have 20 billionaires owning football clubs and they will all want to win. But they can't all win.

'They can't understand why they are seventh or eighth, but for Manchester City it's a massive improvement - the best they've done in years.

'The more foreign owners that come in, the worse it will get - they will all want to be in the top four.

'But I'm very lucky here, my fella's been fantastic - and I'm not just saying that.

'I don't have to say that because I'm well past worrying about what they think of me.

'But Sacha has been fantastic for this club. He's looking to build a new training ground, a new stadium and he's been great. I think the people of Portsmouth are very fortunate to have him'.

Gaydamak is a businessman, and as such will want a return on his investment. We have been faced with some tough calls as a result of this but can anyone really, honestly, hand on heart say that what he has done has not been for the best of Portsmouth Football Club?

The goings on at Citeh are unbelievable and although I am clearly not a Citeh fan - this is not to say I dislike them as I do not, but being a fan of football in general I do fear for their future to be honest, as much for their fans as anything else.

These Citeh fans could well be left with a mercenary as a manager for their club as lets face it who would want the job their working for someone like Shinawatra? I know I would not... It is players as well, I know a lot are criticised for playing more for the money than anything else these days, but I think this could become very, very much the case with Citeh as you would get mercenaries coming from all over playing merely for the money and not for the badge at all!

On the face of things it is made to look like Shinawatra has spend millions but in actual fact the vast majority of money paid out has come from the sky money received, I know you can argue the same applies with Pompey but the difference is Gaydamak is being patient and sticking to a plan laid out, Shinawatra is expecting things way beyond Citeh's reach, way too soon.

Some might moan about Gaydamak sometimes and question him financially - and I have had my doubts too to be honest - but take a look at what is happening with Citeh, and to an extent at Liverpool - you only have to ask yourself what you would rather be seeing? And I think it is an easy call, we should be grateful for what we have, and I like Redknapp am...

Perhaps they will give Benji back, if we cancel the rest of the HP. agreement.
30/04/2008 12:46:00
Yes 007. it had crossed my mind about Benji. He has to make another 10-15 appearences before we get another £3m+. Another manager may not play him next season!

Chaplin secured

Chaplin had a contract with Pompey until 2018 but ahead of the disappointing Notts County defeat he extended his contract with the Blues until 2019.

On this day in history...25th October

Another Fratton disappointment

That 2nd half on Saturday against Notts County was woeful - absolutely awful wasn't it. The first 15-minutes or so of it was like a pre-season friendly to pre-season!

Match highlights - Pompey 1-2 Notts County

What a disappointment that was! The 1st half wasn't bad, in fact large chunks of it were good but the 2nd half was just woeful with a soft centred Pompey beaten 2-1 by Notts County.
