...now who would have thought that day would come? The chances are it still will not, well not as far as Luisao is concerned - but you never know...
Sky sports is reporting that Pompey have sent scouts to watch Luisao perform for Benfica and are keen on making a big money move this summer, with the amount quoted close to £12m!
The central defender has hinted that he will be moving on from Portugal this summer but £12m seems a hell of a lot for us to pay and with John Mensah virtually a 'done deal' - in my mind anyway - with him costing a fair bit less I think we might have to wait a little while longer for a Brazilian international at Fratton Park to be honest.

Not Pele then lol. We need a quality defender no doubt but £12m seems a bit out of our league. Will they take Djimi Traore in part exchange?

Agent talk. If Benfica think we are that daft to pay £12m for a defender than they are smoking some cigar.

was it benfica who asked us to pay £8 mil for d'alessandro ?? personally i dont think we need to think too much about defence at this moment! striker/winger tbh.

£12m is a laugh for a defender.why pay that much when you could get mensah for £5m or less.

Quality defender can be a lot more than £12 million.. Leeds got £29 million for Ferdinand, Woodgate went to Real Madrid for £13 million and Ricardo Carvalho went to Chelsea for £20 million to name just three... but all that said I can't see Pompey spending £12 million on a centre half.. The position needs filling as a matter of urgency if we are to progress but there are other gaps too Striker and right midfield as pessimist says

yep roque junior, what a donkey he was... brazilians not the best of defenders overall are they - i think it'll settle for mensah at a much cheaper price...

I think we are more likely to sign Luiso than Mensah even if he cost's us more. Muntari is the main reason Mensah would come to us and I think it is a fair bet that Muntari won't be at Pompey next season as I believe in the last 14 days he has had a change of heart about staying and he was a little upset about being taken off last Sunday.

I shan't be sorry to see Muntari go to be honest, as I think he's struggled to assert himself in the Premiership this season. He seems worryingly incapable of finding feet too many times - a disease that if not cured by now never will be. Recently the balance in midfield has not been right, too many bashers and not enough craft. I think the problem is playing Diop and Muntari in the same team just does not work - the line up I'd like to see in midfield with 4 would be: Kranjcar-Diarra-Davis-Johnson and with 5: Kranjcar-Diarra-Diop-Davis-Johnson. Forget Utaka, and why not give Glen Johnson a go at right wing until we get ourselves a proper right winger?

Chasey, I have said that myself about Johnston. I think we would get a much better balance with him playing an attacking midfielder role with a true full back behind him.
