'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Yep, Sol is right momentum is the key!

Sol Campbell may have told The News that Pompey will keep fighting for 5th place but the key thing that he said, is something that I have been banging on and on and on about - momentum: 'we've got the FA Cup situation and with the league it's a case of we'll see what happens.

'The main thing is we've got two games left so we've got to get the points out of those games and keep the momentum going.

'Forget everything else, it's about trying to get as many points as you can and then seeing what happens.

'Of course, it could have been easier if it had been a 0-0 draw against Blackburn. That wasn't to be.

'There's still a chance, though, and we must go out there and win both those games.

'We're well aware we've got a final coming up, but that's in three week's time. We've got to make sure we look after the league first. Then we'll see where we end up'.

As I have said we have to start finding some forward momentum and fully agree with Campbell on this issue.

Our chances of finishing 5th are still there mathematically, but these are very slim and very much out of our own hands, Villa would fancy picking up enough points from their last games to pip us even if Everton might not...

Pompey: Middlesbrough (a) - Sat, May 3; Fulham (a) - Sun, May 11.
Everton: Arsenal (a) - Sun, May 4; Newcastle (h) - Sun, May 11.
Aston Villa: Wigan (h) - Sat, May 3; West Ham (a) - Sun, May 11.

Ok, the FA cup is the main focus but we cannot forget that we have 2 games to play before this - if for nothing for the fans that are paying their hard earned money - and a lot of it - and spending hours in travelling time to see these games, myself included! Sorry guys but I am not prepared for us to just roll over and die against Boro and Fulham...

In my heart of hearts I know that I would accept defeats in the final league games if I knew 100% that we would win the cup, but I really do think that we will have a better chance of cup glory if we can go into this full of confidence - and we will have none more than going into this off the back of a couple of wins and a league finish as high as possible.

everton...i cant see them loosing both there games, and i cant see west ham or wigan beating aston villa - 5th, and 6th are out of the question. however if we can go into the FA cup final on 2 wins in a row, it will be much better than going n after 4 defeats...

Spot on - totally agree, we need to win these last 2 games and go in against Cardiff on a high with all guns blazing.

I think we need at least 1 win before the final. However their league form has diesd since they beat Barnsley. Once dragon slaying day arrives, we will be ready!

i know im keeping on about this but i really think it is important for us to win the next couple of games, if for nothing else for some forward moving momentum... i know its a long, long shot but that could see us finish 5th or 6th, at worse it would cement 7th - which would be a fine achievement league wise.

I agree with pompeycarpet, but as you say pompeyrug, it is important for us to put two wins under our belt before the final. This will get us in the right frame of mind for Wembley.
