Kranjcar not ready for the 'bigger teams' yet

Niko Kranjcar will still be with Pompey next season because he 'is not ready for 'bigger teams' yet', not my vote, yours - although these findings from the landlords brother's poll are thoughts that I do agree with.

Kranjcar is a fantastic footballer, his ability cannot be doubted and he has just about all the qualities that are needed to succeed with the 'best of the best', with one notable exception... he has no pace! And this for me, and many others is the thing that will hold him back, at least for the time being.

If you do not naturally have pace it is not really something that you can improve on that dramatically, so this is a hindrance for Kranjcar - even so I still do not doubt that he will one day play for one, maybe even some, of the worlds biggest teams. Would it be too much to hope or dream that this could one day include Pompey...

I want us to keep the guy and unless an offer of something around £15m does genuinely come in, as it is 'said' Arsenal will offer then why should he be sold?

A move to anyone else other than a 'top 4 side' or top European team would just be a sideways move - but money does talk so as much as I do not want us to be a 'selling club' if we get a £15m offer for him then I would bite the hand off that is offering it as Harry Redknapp could work wonders with that kind of money.

One man that certainly seems to think that Arsenal would want Kranjcar is his Croatian boss Slaven Bilic, with him reported in The News as saying: 'Wenger wants to sign players that he likes and he knows they will be able to play in the Premier League.

'Niko made his name at Portsmouth and Wenger knows very well what he can give his side'.

What the poll asked - Can you see Niko Kranjcar leaving this summer?

How you voted - No - he's not ready for 'bigger teams' yet 42%, Hopefully not, but money talks… 27%, He'll stay for at least another season 18%, Yes - 'bigger teams' will come calling 13%

Current Poll - I do not know about anyone else but I still want 5th place in the league, this will be irrelevant if we do not beat Blackburn tomorrow!

As I say I want to finish 5th, yep the FA cup is the most important thing but finishing 5th would make this season a double whammy and this would benefit Pompey beyond anyone's wildest dreams. To do this we must beat Blackburn but can we do this - this is what the pompeyrug wants to know with this - 'Pompey v Blackburn?' Let the poll do the talking before we do when it finishes.

i believe if you train, you can build pace, if you dont have natural pace, all is not lost

I think if he has a great Euros he will go. He is ready for the biggest clubs around. Yes, of course we don't want to lose him but he will command a huge fee if he goes & no doubt will will have a replacement up our sleeve. If he stays, then great. The bigger we get then our profile rises. If Man Utd & Arsenal have to fight off Barca & Real Madrid to keep their players, we are at risk of losing our top stars.

Because Modric went to Spurs the chances of him going Arsenal are high.

has modric gone to spurs (yet)? - anyway, i feel he will stay for at least one more year...

The "bigger" clubs are interested in him according to reports. Doesn't matter if we think he is ready or good enough. If they pay top money for him he will go. End of story.

but the "intrest" is more than likely media imagination - no-one has actually come out nd said anything, other than slaven bilic, who says he is the right TYPE of player for arsenal. but then, how frequently do arsenal buy from other premiership clubs?
pompeycarpet
clearly whatever we say will not make any difference, but as fans you would like to think that having watched him and arsenal - and other clubs - for so long we have some sort of grasp on what 'might' happen, so many thinking he isnt 'ready' for a big team - at this point - i would say is a fair assumption... if 'reports' were to always be believed then alot of things would happen wouldnt it, these reports make it none more true than our own feelings...
