As much as we probably do not want to hear it the news that Harry Redknapp could be willing to part company with Sean Davis and Pedro Mendes this summer is not really a surprise is it?
We need to build up our squad to continue to move forward and this pair would certainly allow us to do so, but with Davis moving into the final year of his deal and Mendes 'reported' to have put his Sandbanks home up for sale it is looking like one, probably both could be leaving this summer.
This is what Redknapp told The News: 'with Sean, we are looking at the end of the year to see what he wants to do with his contract. As for Pedro, I like him, I have no problems with him.
'But it's like everything in football, you bring people in to strengthen your team and your squad. I want to keep improving the team and that's what I have done. It's nothing personal.
'We have got no one I want to get rid of. There are no players I wish we didn't have here. They are all good players.
'It's rare, really. They are a great bunch of lads, all good players. It is a pleasure to manage them.
'You don't want to get rid of them but it depends if they get better offers and how good the clubs are who want to take them.
'I don't want anyone to go but it happens'.
I expected Davis to leave last summer, but he stayed and forced his way back in and performed fantastically well, but the arrival of others and then injuries and suspensions saw him lose his place and it has been hard for him to get it back. Mendes has found it increasingly hard to get into the squad let alone the starting 11 and has looked nailed on to leave for some time.
I think Mendes is absolutely top drawer so it will be really sad should he move on, but he needs 1st team football and does not look like he will be able to get this here - hopefully he can sign off with a Wembley blockbuster and an FA cup winners medal?
A time comes when you do have to move on, and whilst I do not think we have outgrown the pair in the slightest I think they might have outgrown us, as they are finding it harder and harder to get involved in the squad no matter what others are doing, or not as the case seems to be. So with extra funds possibly generated by their sales I think it is likely to happen to be honest...
Other 'reports' are linking Noe Pamarot with Sunderland whilst Rennes pair, defender John Mensah - again - and striker Jimmy Briand are being linked with moves to Fratton Park - with scouts apparently having been sent to watch them in action for the French side.

I think Harry should think about sacrificing Diop as well.
i would like to keep both, and feel we need to keep both as we need a bigger squad than we have, either than or we have to start ustilising it fully - not just sticking with the same formular week after week. within reason this is ok but if people arent cutting it then the likes of davis and mendes should get a chance - but sadly this isnt happening is it, which is why they will most probably leave.
