Thierry Henry to Pompey!

Thierry Henry to Pompey!

Thierry Henry will be tempted by a move to Pompey summer, not my vote, yours - although these findings from auntwallop's poll are thoughts that I would like to agree with, but in reality cannot to be honest.

Look at the image above guys, picture him in a more 'up to date shirt' and that is what some are dreaming of seeing next season - Thierry Henry playing for Pompey!

If the 'rumours' are true Barcelona are prepared to let Henry leave this summer and a return to the premier league has been suggested. As someone else said recently if he is willing to look past the old stadium, lack of training facilities - as others have! - and still holds the memories of that night when he ended up wearing the Pompey shirt dear then you can never say never as we have signed some players over the years we could only have dreamt about signing.

Could we afford him, would he want to come here and so on, just a few questions to ask but as unlikely as it would seem you can never say never can you...

What the poll asked - Do you think we'll sign Henry in the summer?

How you voted - Yes 48%, We have 2 hopes - no hope and the others called Bob 39%, I can feel it in my water 11%

Current Poll - Can we do the double over the Geordies, or will they gain revenge for the 4-1 mauling at St James' in November…

We are looking to keep our pursuit of 5th place alive when Newcastle come to town tomorrow, but can we keep our good run going or will it come to an end - this is what pompeyrug wants to know with this - 'Pompey v Newcastle?' Let the poll do the talking before we do when it finishes.

Pie in the sky stuff.....although the calibre of player in our squad has changed somewhat since we last saw Thierry in a Pompey shirt, and if we do get to the UEFA who knows? Funnier things have happened in football (Havant scoring two at Anfield for example).

Apart from the transfer fee where are we going to get money to pay him each week and who will go to make way for him?

I'm not really up for a player who will think he's bigger than the club.

i always thought thierry was a very modest man, hence why he applauded us whilst wearing our shirt after that match, he didnt run off with his head held high and ignoring our effort. dont forget we have sol campbell kanu and lauren, who were all with henry when arsenal were at their best! could they persuade henry, at least he would know some of the team already. and as well as being the third all time preier league top scorer, henry is the top assist-er by quite a long way...

one thing that ive learned with pompey over the years - even more so in recent times - is to 'never say never'... ok, its unlikely that he will come here but you never can tell...

Done Deal - Smith in permanently from Swindon

The interest Pompey retained in Smith, with him 'in our sights' has resulted in him returning to the Blues on a permanent basis after signing for an 'undisclosed fee' from Swindon.

Cushioning the blow

Much, that needed saying, about Webster's exit for Ipswich and the arrival of Clarke in return (and cash) has been said hasn't it? Doyle's been spot on with what he said.

Swindon striker in 'Pompey's sights'

Michel Smith, who was of course on loan last season, could return? He's still in 'Pompey's sights' by all accounts after Swindon informed him he's 'surplus to requirements' now.
