Kanu - we did it for the fans

Kanu - we did it for the fans

Scorer of the winning goal in the FA cup semi final Kanu - which sees us into our first FA cup final since 1939 - has told the Pompey Site how that goal was for the fans: 'we did it for the fans and we have to do it for them again and come back here and win the final.

'I'm very happy, because I didn't want to disappoint the fans. They were fantastic.

'It's great to be going to the final - when we got drawn away to Manchester United no-one thought we would get there. Now we have to win it'.

The game was awful, for most of it we were poor, but in all honesty we have not been that good during our whole cup run - but this is what makes me feel even more so that our name is on the cup this season…

All fans will think that they 'deserve some success' but we really are fantastic fans, and the hardcore group of fans and supporters that always have, and always will be there do deserve this - this is not to say that new waves of hardcore fans are not forming all the time, as they are, at least hopefully are - with everything the club has been through over the years do we not deserve this even more?

FA cup finalist fellas, how incredible does that sound? FA cup winners would be even better, beyond my wildest dreams springs to mind - not wanting to sound like Harry Redknapp too much but it really is hard not to think that just a few years back we were being done by the likes of Crewe, Stockport, Port Vale and so on, not to mention being on the verge of losing our club… so yep I think the fans do deserve it, don't you?

Nice to dedicate this to us fans. I'd take another poor game with a 1-0 victory in the final, wouldnt you all?

P4me Yes I would take that but I would much rather win it with some style and a few goals. And yes as Pompey fans we do deserve it. We have supported our team through thick and mostly thin and our Cup Final day out will repay our loyalty.

Sign of good fans they sing when we are winning and losing... Saturday at Wembley was the same as a few years back at fratton park when we got hammered by Arsenal (Henry's coming to Pompey!) The volume was high and the support phenomenal, only difference we won... and like all good teams we were able to win ugly! Play up Pompey!

Finest in the Football League

I don't hide how highly I rate Chaplin. I feel he's the best striker in league two - better than most in league one. Cook said he is the best goalscorer outside the Premier League.
