No 'bare bones' talk at all...

No 'bare bones' talk at all...

We have a number of suspensions and some injuries yet incredibly we have not heard the 'bare bones' speech from Harry Redknapp at all in the past week or so - what's going on!

This is a speech that we almost always get, a speech that makes the vast majority of us cringe, yet with Sulley Muntari and Papa Bouba Diop suspended, Lassana Diarra out with a hamstring problem and Lauren out with illness - at least he was last weekend, with 3 of this 4 certain not to return this weekend, added with the news that Lucien Aubey has a hamstring problem and Hermann Hreidarsson might have a bit of a knock - so could be a doubt, it is a surprise we have not heard this, a pleasant surprise though…

Sol Campbell should return this weekend and other midfielders can step in, what is more Redknapp even seems prepared to rest Niko Kranjcar.

What a change it does make not to hear the 'bare bones' talk, quite the opposite in fact and the talk is that players still have the opportunity to play their way into a semi final place next weekend… whilst I suspect this is probably someway wide of the mark, as I would think he knows the team he would like to play, lets hope that this move away from that kind of 'bare bones' talk will stick eh!

So what do people think the team will be? James, Johnson, Campbell, Distin, Pamarot,
Utaka, Davis, Hughes, Mendes and Mvemba
Baros and Defoe

i dont think that will be far from it tbh, but think it will be lauren - if fit? - as im not even sure pamarot is fit yet is he? if paramount, lauren, hermann and lucifer are all out then we could see an outing for cranie?

Even Curbs got tired of lamenting injuries every week, can't blame Arry. :)

I reckon Lauren will play at left back and Baros will partner Defoe up front. The midfield will probably be really makeshift but as long as we get through the game with a win, we can then concentrate on the FA Cup. Is Noe Pamarot fit again? that would be a bonus if he was. I reckon Nugent will get a go now as well

Hard to have a good squad & keep tham all happy but we are giving them all ago. What will be interesting, isn't so much how plays at Wembley but who is & isn't on the bench.

Match highlights - Hartlepool 0-2 Pompey

The slim chances of a top 3 finish ended, despite a win at Hartlepool. Wins for Accrington, Oxford and Bristol Rovers meant Pompey cannot finish higher than our current 5th place.
