Pompey trio in England squad

David James, Glen Johnson and Jermain Defoe have all been called into the 30 man provisional England squad for the friendly with France in Paris next week.

Fabio Capello will once again trim this squad to 23 players on Saturday night, but hopefully Johnson will this time make the final cut, rather than be cut, whereas Defoe came in as a late replacement shortly after signing for us last time.

The main thing, should all 3 make it into the squad and/or play a part against France is injuries are avoided, as we have our biggest game in years coming up shortly after this - in case you have forgotten or have been on another planet that game will be the FA cup semi finalů

I expect Johnson to start as the only other Right Back is Brown and he is not playing well. Three players in the England squad are we dreaming - pulls out needle - no definitely not.

A great reflcetion on us all. Let's hope they are on the pitch at the same time, has it happened before? Then safely home, it's only a friendly after all.

Benjani didnt sign on loan first, they bent the rules for City, but wont bend them for us. Absolute disgrace, the FA prove what mugs they are once more!!

Sure is a disgrace. Still we can play our Cup side and practice things before Wembley.

well, i read this, and thought "no problem, we have a stong midfield, and 4-5-1 will probably be the best option anyway". then i remembered that we have muntari and diop out to. so we will be down to our bare bones against totenem...(which is why we will loose...)

First time I've heard of this rule - I'm fuming, it makes no sense whatsoever, none. I understand why its there if a player is on loan, but why does it continue after the deal is permanent? Its stupid. He's our player we should be allowed to play him. I was really looking forward to watching him stick a couple past Robinson on Saturday!!!

At least Utaka, Arnold, and Aubeywil probably get a run, and i would think that Nugent will be on the bench. Jermaine will be back for Wigan, and then the big boys will be back for the semi, we will be alright, but the squad is being tested to the full. Oh i forgot, Richard Duffy is available as well, and he plays for Wales!!, but not Pompey, how does that work?

See input 2. Have we ever had more than 1 Pompey player on the pitch at any time, we could have 3?
