'If It's Football, It's Vital'

How is this possible?

When looking on the Pompey Site earlier I not only noticed that the forgotten man Richard Duffy will be turning out again for the reserves tonight, but he has also bizarrely been recalled by Wales!

Duffy has barely featured in all his years at Pompey, yet for some reason he has never been sold permanently despite numerous loan spells away from Fratton Park. Maybe he does have something about him that Harry Redknapp really likes and he will one day 'burst' onto the scene here - but this does seem unlikely?

Either way I find it incredible that Duffy has been recalled by John Toshack for their friendly with Luxemburg next week…

Not trying to be funny or offensive to Wales, and maybe they might not have an abundance of talent to choice from - not that England has the mass that we once did - nor am I slagging off the fella, it is just odd that someone who has not played a 1st team game this season - the closest I can recall him getting was a place on the bench against United in our 1-1 draw at home in the 2nd game of the season - has been called back into the international fold. Very strange…

I think he is behind Johnson, Lauren and Cranie in the right -back slots, centre back he don't have a chance!

He may have a value that sees there is no point in selling him now!

Welsh management must have watched him on video as he has not played for so long.

He will come through one day, rumours say Johnson will go to Man U in the summer as a replacement for neville, is this why we have kept him?

Never Johnnoknows at United he would be a bit part player, he knows he is on to a good thing at Pompey, Duffy is a squad player at best, but you feel that he will be on his way in the summer. At least he can keep up his fitness levels with Wales

'one for the future' is never a good sign is it tbh... there must be some reason why we have kept him - im just at a loss to understnad why, not trying to be harsh on the fella...
