Baros up for Villa game

Baros up for Villa game

Milan Baros is pleased with his form so far, but is most definitely keen to pull one over his former club Villa this weekend when they come to Fratton Park as he has told The News:'it's a shame I haven't scored but at least I was involved with some goals against Birmingham.

'I felt good in that match, I thought I did well and I am enjoying it.

'But I need to start scoring goals now for Portsmouth.

'The team is playing well in the league and we are now in the FA Cup semi-finals, so that is going very well, we are happy with that.

'But for me I want to score goals, it is what I am about and I need to start contributing to the team in that way.

'I am not upset over my form. I feel I have done fine in matches since I arrived here.

'It would be great to score my first Portsmouth goal against Villa and in front of the home fans, that is what I would like to do.

'It was mutual agreement when I left Villa. I was not part of Martin O'Neill's plans, I have no problems with that.

'Now I am enjoying myself here and hopefully the goals will come'.

Baros has had his moments for us so far, he looked good to me when we played Chelski and was also very impressive when he came on against United last weekend, but against Birmingham on Wednesday night I thought he had his best game, he worked tirelessly, never gave up and rightly got a good ovation when he came off - I thought he deserved a goal really to be honest.

I hope that Harry Redknapp sticks with him and Jermain Defoe again in a 4-4-2, but that leaves the problematic right sided midfield place to contend with, John Utaka could come in as Papa Bouba Diop cannot play that role - as we all know though, that leaves us exposed defensively so it could be Lauren, but as we all keep saying if it were the case play him at right back and Glen Johnson in right midfield…

Either way, as I say I hope Baros gets another start as he is beginning to show signs that he could look the part again, he just needs a goal to get thing going, and what better way than against his old team tomorrow!

I liked baros, would have loved to have kept him, a real rough diamond who just needed better service. He does go sulky if things aren't going his way but still a class act on his day.

I'd love to see Milan stick it up Villa tomorrow and all the motivation he needs is right there in front of him. O'Neil told him to perk up or leave, he perked up and was still sold. Gobbie (I can't stand you because you punched Linvoy under my nose last season) Agbonlahor, took Milan's place and was really cocky about it claiming he was better than a Euro 2004 Golden Boot award winner and finally when Milan was sold John Carew (who I do rate) went to Villa as part of the deal... I'm predicting Milan will open his account tomorrow.... and do enough to push Pompey into sixth.. MIL-AN.. WE WANNA GOAL MIL-AN...GO ON AND SCORE MIL-AN...

I don't believe that I have seen the words " worked tirelessly " and "Baros " in the same sentence before???

Maybe he has changed but works very hard now. Liverpool fans tell me he did the same when played in a 4-5-1. Deserves a goal too after his recent performances.

Villan, I guess it depends on the motivating force...

Ditto Guys, Baros looks good to me - can't believe I am saying this but I think we've got 80% of Benjani and 60% of Defoe in one player.

A goal would do wonders for him. He has a Wembley place to get & that should help us both.

Another shrewd signing from the Pompey scouting system, he grafts hard and works well with Jermaine, i hope he gets a goal and proves himself enough to stay with us.

I think he will sign permantently in the summer if he keeps working hard and scores a few goals, if he does well in the euros we could have a bargain because the price is already agreed with lyon and we have first choice of signing him. Baros and goal machine Defoe is a great partnership they are both young and quick.

Yep agree Owens, he has a few doubters but you only have to look at his overall contribution to realise he has got what it takes .... He'll score soon (hopefully tomorrow) and that'll do his confidence no end of good.. Milan to score the winner at Wembley perhaps ??
