Semi final details

The much anticipated semi final meeting with West Brom has had its details confirmed, well as far as when it will take place.

We will be playing on Saturday 5th April, with a 12.15pm kick off time. We already knew that we had 33,000 tickets and details of how to get hold of these are to be announced on the Pompey Site today.

Clearly season ticket holders and club members get priority, but the near on sell out at Fratton Park last night 'might' help some others, as they seek to jump on the bandwagon - I am not saying everyone is wanting to do this of course, but it would be interesting to know how full it would have been last night if 'redeeming' your ticket for that game, and the one on Saturday with Villa might not have given you a 'better chance' of semi final tickets as a result…

All along I have said that I hope those that truly deserve tickets get tickets, and also hope that those that then do get tickets really do want them - if I notice them for sell on t'internet I will be livid, and will make sure that I make the club aware of this - what they would do about it I do not know…

Speaking of tickets, there will be an increase in ticket prices for season tickets next season. Peter Storrie told The News: 'we have held prices for the last three years but obviously we have to look at it realistically and cannot hold that forever, unfortunately.

'The level of the squad we have currently got on the wage role is increasing and we have kept it as low as we possibly can.

'These increases average about five per cent.

'For the first time in three years this has happened so we haven't done too bad.

'I have seen what some of the other clubs are doing and they have started to push prices more than us'.

These increases do not seem as bad as I had been led to believe they would be, so I am not that unhappy to be honest.

Season Ticket Prices are fair and there are a couple of payment options this season.. can pay in two or ten installments to spread the cost.. also for those who can afford it the early bird discount for existing seaon ticket holders gives about sixty quid off if you get in by (I think) 15 April - Can't complain really.

Re Semi Final prices they are gonna be between £25 & £55 and working it out there should be plenty for general sale (15,000 season ticket holders, 5,000 ckub members, 5,000 ticket stub members leaves about 5,000 on general sale) They're are bound to some on the internet as the Wembley club members will probably sell there's back to the FA so if you miss out make that you first port of call ..more expensive but the best view...

On a separate note has anybody heard rumours that they is no train access to Wembley from Pompey ..heard last night that British Rail have chosen the weekend to work on Pompey to Waterloo line and also parts of the Underground... Don't know if true but might be worth checking it out... If I get the chance I'll do it today and put a post up in the forum

Yes the train stuff is true. Another reason why our 'supposed' game with West Ham on that Saturday was moved to Monday, I think. It will add more chaos to the roads which makes the KO time more daft. What is wrong with 1.30pm or 3pm? TV first, fans last!

My trip to Wembley will be via satelite but I will be cheering as though I was there and I still have a rattle than is now banned at games but not banned in my house.

Not far off Chix. Ticket Office manager tells me there are 14,750 season ticket holders. Not sure how many members 5,000 sounds high.

Not sure when it starts but I think it's a weekend job. I read it on a West Ham web page 'cause they were moaning it had to be be moved. (prior to the cup game). Suggestions are you are going to have to get to Wembley by 10.30-11am to have to time to park & get in. Very early start.

cheers matt, yep i do recall it later being revealled that the west ham game was changed because of these works - its going to be chaos isnt it... but hey, so long as tv get the best deal thats all that matters isnt it!

just been on the national rail enquiries web site if your wanting to get there for 10 then the train leaves fratton at 6.28 that get you in at 9.33 but its not as easy as it seem on that train there are 4 changes guildford ,waterloo, underground to marylebone and then wembley, however after giving the times it also explains that there are no underground trains running between those two stations at that time and to make other arrangement so in all it could be a total nightmare, and to make matters even better they say it not a case of straight forward buying a ticket you need to buy serveral for the journey..

Can't you guys jump on a coach? It's easier for me, London is 22 minutes away when the trains run to schedule.

Does anyone know if there is car parking at Wembley? I did hear that there are plans for 250 coaches to go up. You can often get cheap deals on National Express if you book early - but then of course you've still got to get across London.

South West Trains are going to have to sort this out with National Rail. We need the trains to get 33,000 people to Wembley, While some may choose to drive most will want to go by coach and train. No trains would mean 660 coaches!! Where do we get them from?

i heard last night at the game that there is parking at wembley but because there playing two semi finals on the same weekend you are going to have to pre book a space to stop fans for sundays final taking up an early spot to guantee parking not sure how true this is but it narrows it down travelling options

Have worked out that the reason for the early KO is to do with TV, but it is because it is the day that the Grand National is on. As BBC have coverage of that from 2pm they would not want to clash with the football - cheers BBC, maybe I should ask for part of my licence fee back to help pay for the extended journey.

I would suggest that the best route to Wembley maybe by using the overground service from Marylebone station which can be reached via the Bakerloo line (if it's running).

Otherwise try and drive to Uxbridge where the start of the overground line is? Just a couple of thoughts.

Having seen the ticket info released has anyone else noticed that the amount quoted in each phase is over a thousand short of the total amount of tickets? What happens to the missing tickets?

anyway, the second (or was it third?) category that allows season ticket holders to get 2 tickets each...im guessing that that is instead of the first category...or is it as well as (effectivly saying an opertunity for everyone to get another 1 ticket per season ticket?) - if it is the former, then it seems like a gambel as to wheter you will actually get a ticket if you go for that option. however, pursuading a friend to go into that category seems like the best bet for me...;-)
