Harry Redknapp told sky sports after our defeat to Everton at the weekend that he thought 'we did not deserve to be on the wrong end of a 3-1 defeat' - I cannot agree with him to be honest: 'we started badly, but I couldn't see them winning after an hour.
'I felt we got control of the game after that initial start, passed the ball great, and got back into the game. I really felt that at half-time we would go on and win the game.
'I felt in the last 15 minutes of the first half we had got stronger and stronger. I felt we passed the ball great and if we continued to play in that way that we would go on and win the game and be positive and that's what we tried to do.
'But I felt that we maybe pushed forward too much and started to get done on the counter-attack.
'But I could see the game at that stage as a banker 1-1. I felt that suddenly we had lost that bit of impetus 20 minutes into the second half and I could see it fizzling out to a 1-1 draw'.
Basically the better team won, yep we did have our moments but we failed to capitalise when we were on top for a period, we never once forced Tim Howard into a save, and rarely looked like creating a clear cut opening...
Where was the game won and lost?
In all honesty we have not played well for months on the whole - I will get into this more with something else later in the week - but I feel tactically is where we lost this as David Moyes clearly won this battle, his tactical change really did win them the game, the change that Redknapp made had no impact at all - had it come earlier, or maybe even been different to start with maybe it would have been different...
Redknapp went on to add: 'Johnson came on and they played balls into the channels. I felt that we got pushed forward at full-back, left holes, and left ourselves two against two too easy at the back and we had a problem.
'When they made it 2-1 then what can do you do?' he said.
'Suddenly the momentum is back with them and we're trying to push forward to try and get back in the game
'I brought John Utaka on to play wide right and opened ourselves up again, but that's how it goes.
'Overall we're not too disappointed and I felt that we played well enough to have got something out of the game'.
To be honest, as I say I think we got what we deserved overall, which was nothing, and an improvment is needed, and fast - we have played badly for far too long now...
