Teams - Preston v Pompey

Teams - Preston v Pompey

This is the Preston line up:

Andy Lonergan
Billy Jones
Youl Mawene
Liam Chilvers
Callum Davidson
Chris Sedgwick
Paul McKenna
Darren Carter
Simon Whaley
Chris Brown
Karl Hawley

Substitutes
Grzegorz Szamotulski
Richard Chaplow
Brett Ormerod
Matthew Hill
Neil Mellor

Glen Johnson returned in place of Lauren - who dropped to the bench, and with Noe Pamarot injured Sylvain Distin returned. Hermann Hreidarsson retained his place, so Lucien Aubey had to be content with a place on the bench. Richard Hughes also dropped to the bench as Sulley Muntari made his return after the African nations. Milan Baros was another to drop to the bench and Jermain Defoe was cup-tied so in came John Utaka and Kanu. Sadly Dave Nugent was not fit enough for a place on the bench against his former side.

So we line up like this:

David James
Glen Johnson
Sol Campbell
Sylvain Distin
Hermann Hreidarsson
John Utaka
Lassana Diarra
Papa Bouba Diop
Sulley Muntari
Niko Kranjcar
Kanu

Substitutes
Jamie Ashdown
Lucien Aubey
Lauren
Milan Baros
Richard Hughes

Arrrrgh, Kanu up front on his own from the start?? Still, we may have the midfield to run past him now with Sulley and Diarra in.

Doing alright fellas ... we're knocking the ball around well and just waiting for a chance to find a runner... Utaka and Krunchie need to cut inside more when Kanu is holding the ball up ..
